Moved in to an older house, dryer works then just kept running for hours. Found out right side of breaker tripped. reset and does same thing again after 10 minutes. Timer mode same thing. Auto mode timer does not advance. timer mode it quits after getting to fluff side and tripps breaker and dryer stops. Did the continuity checks on all parts and element no probelm found. Looked at element and still looks new, ohm checks good at 12ohms.
air ducts are new and clean. Touched the breakers when it tripped it s cool to touch, same thing with plugg. Checked outlet for loose connection but all are ok.
Breakers have 20A each made by fereral pacific .
Just wanted to ask if I changed the breaker to 30A will it be safe, since my dryer is rated with label of one with 24A and one side is with 28A?
The wiring that goes with the breaker is 12 gage V600. Please help. Its been a week now and I need my dryer... :(

Yes the breaker should be 30 amp.

But the wire should be 10 gauge.

I would check your local electrical code to confirm this.

Alot of times in the older homes, they tap 115 volts off of 2 -20 amp breakers. If you cut the 20 amp off, do you get 115 volts to the dryer? If so, just replace the 20 amp fuse that is blowing. Tom ApplianceEducator.com

As far as the 20 Amp breaker. It will only pop after the dryer start to heat up and after 5 minutes it will pop and the dryer keeps on running but just blows cold air all day long and will not turn of until you open the door. Then I have to reset the circuit breaker.
Will call the electrician on monday to confirm on wire change if I change the breaker to 30A.. Another thing is that the Federal Pacific stab-lok single pole type N/A breakers are hard to find.
(The dryer has the three wire plug)

I think you want a 30 amp double pole breaker.

Electrical code specifies that both sides open when the breaker pops.
