Dear Sir/Madam,

I have an about 5-year old Maytag (Norge) washer (Model Number MAV6000AWW).

Problems:

When problems started last Saturday:
(1) After we turned the control dial to a certain spot, e.g. White, and pulled it up, water was filled in normally
(2) During agitation, there were some ear-piercing sound and burnt smell
(3) After agitation finished, the control dial stopped at Rinse spot and no water was drained out. The washer stopped there.
(4) We examined the rubber belt at the bottom but could not tell whether it had problem or not
(5) We had not examined the pump or motor yet

Problem now:
After several tries of filling water, when we pulled the dial again, the washer did not start, and burnt smell was notice as soon as we pulled the control dial up

Questions:
(1) What may be the problem(s)? Do you think it is the rubber belt, or pump, or motor?
(2) Any easy way to test whether the motor was burnt or not?
(3) How to fix the problem(s)?
(4) Any other advice?
