My Dryer only heats when it wants to. When it doesn't heat you can hear a strange noise in place of the flame. I just replaced the ignitor, thermostat and thermal fuse and that didn't do the trick. What should I try next?

The coils on the gas valve? I'm sorry, but my husband is out of town and my son and I are trying to figure this out. Are you referring to the gas valve coming into the house or something that is actually on the dryer? Can you please explain. Thank you

Yes there is a gas valve on the dryer. It is next to the ignitor. On the top of the gas valve are 2 coil type solonoids. There are just a few screws that hold the bracket on over the coils. Unplug the wire harness from each coil, and then take the 2 screws off that holds the bracket over the coils. The remove one coil, and then put the replacement coil on in the same position. Do the same with the other coil. The bracket will only go over the coils and fit snuggly, if the coils are in the exact same position as they were before you took them off. Just make sure you unplug the dryer, before you do this, and there is no need to shutoff the gas for this repair. Tom ApplianceEducator.com
