I've been following Gene's thread on the no heat problem which I am also suffering from. I found the thermal fuse, checked it and it is open so I will replace that and the dryer cycling thermostat as suggested. However, I also have the problem of the timer not moving through the cycle but I could not find the thread that Gene referred to. I don't want to order the parts and then find that I need to replace/repair the timer. How can I test it? Thanks for your great work. Thanks, cfabusa in Orange County

Based on my experience, if the timer is not moving it is bad. Timers cannot usually be repaired they have to be replaced. Open the back cover and get the number off the timer to find out the exact one you need. Timers are expensive.

Thanks for your response but I had already ordered the thermal fuse and thermostat by the time it posted. I fitted those and everything is back to normal including the timer which seems wierd to me but I'll take it. Thanks all.

I'm glad that worked out for you. Normally the timer will move even though there is no heating. I'm glad that thermal fuse helped and it was not the timer. Good luck.
