Default How to remove control panel on GEW9868K dryer
Model Number: 3978826   Brand: Whirlpool   Age: 1 - 5 years

How do I remove control panel from top of dryer.
All (90%+) selection lights light up on front panel but am unable to select/ push start.
I select the function and push start... nothing.
About 12 months ago, a couple of the pre-programmed functions stopped recognizing my selection, they would not light up. I resorted to using the timer and heat selection manually.
This past weekend, I couldn't get any lights, unplugged, plugged back in and lights lit, but start icon would not accept selection.
Wondering if control panel has failed or relay(s)/ solenoid has gone bad on curcuit board.
Your help would be appreciated before I order a new control panel that may or maynot solve problem.
Local repair cannot/ does not wisht to be bothered.
Thank you

Hi Speadracer

The model number you posted is incomplete. In order to provide the most accurate advise I need you to post the complete model number of your dryer.

Gene.

Most likely the problem with your dryer is a bad key panel. Replacing the console should solve the problem.
In the model number you provided still missing one letter and one number after "K".

Gene.

do you have available instructions how to remove the console/ control panel from the dryer?!?

as for missing # and letter... not sure what I am missing, checked and rechecked missing #.
as for the letter, my model is pewter (KL)

all I know is... Whirlpool Dryer GEW9868KL, console #3978826 or AP3083190

thank you for your quick replies, so-that I can order hopefully the correct part and be back up and running by upcoming weekend.
