Metal to metal contact with front panel. Glide and bearing gone. Drum eating into front panel. Not pretty. Some folks just put up with it till the dang thang quits. Shame. If it is that far gone you gonna need a new front panel.

One other thing to check is run your hand around the ends of the drum just in case something has gotten wedged in between the drum and the frame.
Bra wires are famous for this though usually they just make a racket. More likely to be the front glides as JW said.
