Dryer Repair

I got an e-mail from a tenant saying that the dryer was making loud grinding and scratching noise and after it was shut off they found small metal shavings in the inside of the dryer. I'm not an expert but, does this sound plausible and if so what might be the cause? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

Metal to metal contact with front panel. Glide and bearing gone. Drum eating into front panel. Not pretty. Some folks just put up with it till the dang thang quits. Shame. If it is that far gone you gonna need a new front panel.

Ballpark, what does that cost with labor?

One other thing to check is run your hand around the ends of the drum just in case something has gotten wedged in between the drum and the frame.
Bra wires are famous for this though usually they just make a racket.

More likely to be the front glides as JW said.
