our GE dryer model # DS4500EBOWW suddelly stopped heating 2 days ago and the timer control also stopped working - if you set the timer control on a heat setting the timer doesn't advance and dryer just keeps running blowing cold air. Any ideasd what this might be? I ckecked all wires and they seem tro be intact, blower motor still works fine, dryer just wont heat and timer won't advance. Please help me.
thanks

GE likes to keep all tech info a secret but the link does have a couple GE wiring diagrams. You could check in your control console to see if the wiring diagram for this unit is stored there.

When you checked the timer advance was the unit in a timed dry mode.
The reason is if it is in a timed dry it gets power directly through the timer contacts. In auto modes it gets power through the heating coil when the coil is shut off. Note that the resistor reduces the 240 volt heater voltage tp 120 volts for the timer motor.
So if it does advance in timed dry the problem is likely in the heater circuit, re: blown heating coil or grounded element.
