I have an issue with my dryer timer not advancing. I ordered a new timer and this did still not fix the problem. Upon further looking online it looked like it might be the 3 light dryness sensor board so I ordered a new board and a new sensor. When I put in the new board and sensor I turned the dryer on and it still did not advance. When I looked at the dryness board it looks to have been blown. Im wondering if I got the wrong timer and cause the dryness board to be blown. Here is some info to help figure out the issue:

Dryer model:
Maytag Atlandis MDG8400AWW Series 19

The part number on the old timer:
Maytag 63720670 M285
Kingston 71020-A03270

The replacement timer part:
Whirlpool 33002855

Im suspecting this is the wrong timer even though everything says its the correct one. The dial doesn't completely line up correct on the time dry setting...it overlaps into permanent press. Also when you look at the timer pins where the wire harness hooks up the old timer has 3 rows of pins and the new timer has axtra pin on a fourth rown. I can scan the wiring diagram taped in teh dryer if it helps. There is a part number on the diagram: 63720720 if that helps at all either. Do I have the right part?

Please let me know what other info I can give to figure this out.

Thanks,

Colby

My Timer also will not advance.

The replacement parts I see listed for MDG8400AWW are for Series 10 & 23.
the 3 light board and a separate 3 light board that includes a chime.

My Series 19 has two parts, the 3 light Dryness Display and a separate Dryer Chime. I need the separate Dryness Chime.

Does anyone know how I can find a parts list for a series 19 ?????

I too have the same issue. My dryer wouldn't always start but would always advance. I put in a new timer and when I finished and turned on the dryer I saw a blue flash and the intellidry board now is black in an area and got blown out because of the replacement timer. I have the same model MDE8400AYW, series 19. I replaced it with the same timer as you. Now it won't advance. I was reading elsewhere that when they made this certain dryer they had used left over wire harnesses from series 16 and that is where the issue is coming in. Can you please tell me if you ever got the problem fixed?? I am going through this right now and am FED UP!!!

I have a MDE8400AYW that flashed and blew out the intellidry board and sensor. I replaced the board and sensor, but have found that the timer doesn't advance. My serial number starts with 24 and has a timer:

5122A Maytag 63720670 M295
KINGSTON 71020-A01151

The timer wiring harness tag has:

ASSY IN MEX 63406950_REV_B
June-02-05 OP# 11505 14:46:48

I bought a Whirlpool Timer 33002808, which is for a series 16 but am afraid to put it on for fear of blowing out the intellidry circuit again. The upper and lower pin-outs on the old timer are

HHHHD
HHHH

and on the new timer

MMHHD
MM#H#

Any Suggestions? We have been running the dryer extra as we sometimes forget to check and this adds to our electric bill.

I have put together some timer information, but cannot attest to its accuracy:

33002808=Series 16
33002854=Series 10
33002855=Series 24

I replaced the old Maytag 63720670 timer with a Whirlpool 33002808 and it seems to work like the original. When we were using the broken timer, we got used to the dryer being full heat on or fluff dry. Now we have all the heat settings in-between for the intelli-dry and timed dry works to. I did have to go back and replace the inteli-dry chime/light circuit (one piece) as the broken timer had already blown it out for the second time. So, if you have a Maytag model 63720670 and it won't advance--> my solution was to replace it with the 33002808 and a new inteli-dry chime/light board. Good luck to all who deal with Maytag & Whirlpool.

Ok, I too ran into issues sourcing the correct Timer for my Maytag MDE8400AYQ Dryer (electric) Serial 24978957GJ.

To cut to the chase - Maytag will swear up and down that the correct timer is #33002855 but as noted in this thread THEY ARE WRONG. The correct timer is #33002808. I should have listened to the advice here, it would have saved me the cost of a timer and burned out board. (The 2855 timer blew out the 2905 board when used in Timed mode)

I strongly recommend replacing the dryer sensor/chime unit at the same time. Part #33002905. My experience has been that timer failures (or incorrect timers) can damage this board. Also, I noticed that the 2905 unit has several sets of components which can easily bend and contact each other. I added some small bits of heat shrink tubing (just slipped on, not shrunk) to insulate them from each other. If this is not done, it is easy to bend and short these during installation or from contact with the wiring harness.

I contacted several part suppliers and was given 3 different part numbers. In one case, I was told to replace the wiring harness along with the timer. The recommended harness was for the Series 16 dryer, but this harness will not work with the 2905 board.

My dryer was manufactured in May 2005 and had a serial number that began with 24. It had the single board IntelliDry Dryness / Chime unit - matching Whirlpool part 33002905 which is listed as being introduced with Series 23.

You can find a parts list for this dryer here:

https://www.maytag.com/digitalas...ist%20-%20MDE8400AYQ.pdf

The original timer was marked:

5109A Maytag 63720670 M295
Kingston 71020-A00802

The wiring harness tag was marked:

May-05-05 PT# 63406950_REV_B

The printed wiring diagram taped inside the control panel was marked with a part number: 63406750 - which describes the harness part number 63406950.

Here are my conclusions regarding these Whirlpool part numbers:

Timers:

33002854 Series 10
33002808 Series 16 - and series 24
33002855 Series 19

Wiring harnesses (electric)

33002756 Series 10 (dual board IntelliDry) printed version with Dryer is ????, parts list id is ????
33002810 Series 16 (dual board IntelliDry) printed version with Dryer is ????, parts list id is 15003030
33002908 Series 23 (single board IntelliDry) printed version with Dryer is ????, parts list id is 15003369
33002957 Series 24 (single board IntelliDry) printed version with Dryer is 63406750, parts list id is 15003539

Wiring diagrams:

Maytag # Whirlpool #
15003030 Series 16
15003369 Series 23
63406750 15003539 Series 24
