This washer/dryer combo has been great. Small repairs like re-attaching the coil, and replacing the belt have occurred, but other than that, this combo fits my profile perfectly. Now, the small contact inside the door switch has broken. I looked up the door switch in an effort to order one and replace it, but that part is now discontinued and there is no cross reference for one that will work. My question is this, if all that the door switch does is, when pushed in provides contact from one terminal on the switch to the other, and when the door is open, thereby allowing the spring in the switch to push the switch out and release contact so there is no power being transferred, is there any hazard in jumping the contacts so there is a continuous contact between the two terminals on the switch? I mean unless you open the door while doing your drying, the contacts are always providing flow of power anyway when the dryer is in its cycle. I plan on trying to seek out a used switch, and of course, if not able to find, eventually I will have to replace this combo, but for the immediate future, are my thoughts correct? Thanks in advance.
