Default Dryer turns on,continues to run
Model Number: 110-97586200   Brand: Kenmore   Age: 5 - 10 years

Dryer turns on as soon as you turn the timer/temp selector. You don't have to push the start button anymore. It stops and the end of the cycle but the timer keeps running, so it starts up as soon as it gets in a new cycle.

Seems like shorted contacts in the timer plus a shorted start switch. Pull out timer and take cover off to verify.

The first thing I would check is the start switch.

If the start switch was the only problem, it would not run in the timer off position.
