I Just bought stack w/d unit used, don't know how old it is, I first had to repair the start switch, and thought I was good, then the first load I tried drying the dryer cut off after 1 or 2 minutes. I tried to turn it back on, and just got the starter noise. After trying to start it a few times the starter noise stopped completely. I unplugged it and plugged it back in and it started again after a few minutes, but repeated the same exact thing. I did smell a very slight electrical or burning smell, but just slight. I was thinking maybe it's some kind of safety switch stopping the motor if it gets too hot, but I don't know much about this. I would really apreciate any advice, I don't even have a manual for this unit. model # 417.99680210

It sounds like your motor is failing, and the overload protection is kicking in to shutoff the motor.

You may just have a build up of lint and other debris, so disconnect it and use this manual to open it up and clean it out, and be sure and check the dryer door if the airflow goes through it as lint builds up there most of all. If after cleaning it up you still have the problem it probably means replacing the dryer motor.
