makes banging sound when drying and takes longer to get items dry. Please help. was told it might be a belt?

Your long dry time is probably a result of lint build up in the door, lint exhaust internal and external and in the drum. Insert a screw driver in the gap between the top and front near the edges and release clips that hold the top down. It will flip up, giving you access to the machine, and the front will come off by taking out two screws. Clean everyting out thoroughly.

The other problem may be the rear bearing. Here is the part kit. To take out the drum, take off the rear service panel and release the belt. The drum then lifts up and out.

I doubt if the belt is the problem, but as long as you are in there you might as well change it out also.
