I have a whirpool dryer that works fine but will not shut off at the end of a cycle,it just keeps going till i open the door or turn it to off. It will restart if I push the start button. Does not matter if it is on timed dry or on the moisture senser dry. Will replacing the timer help?

so how do I check the continuity. I have a digital multimeter. With the unit unplugged and the timer set to dry and testing the the largest two wires it reads 0. reads 1 if timer is turned off.
