My gas dryer has the exhaust sytem that comes out of the bottom. The elbow for the exhaust system came loose resulting in lint blowing all around my laundry room and the smoke detectors going off. You would think re-attaching this would be a simple task. I've lined up the dryer over the hole in the floor to the basement and have tried multiple times to reattach the elbow. However, the metal pipe coming out of the dryer is not staying in place and it is not long enough to completely come through the hole in the floor. When I try to push the elbow from the exhaust pipe in the basement up over the crimping, the metal just pushes up inside the dryer. Is there something that needs to be done inside the dryer to hold this firm so I can connect my exhaust properly?
