Model Number: LER5636JQ0 Brand: Whirlpool Age: 1 - 5 years
My dryer works. But it does not heat. I put in a new heat element and new thermal cutoff kit. I also replaced the two fuses in the basement. What could be wrong?

Hi,
Make sure you have the correct voltage to the dryer. There should be 240 volts. If you have house fuses one of them could be bad. This would let the dryer run, but not heat. If you don't have anything to check the fuses with just pop in two new fuses and try the dryer again. Video: How to check voltage at cord on a Whirlpool electric dryer. Hi bill67
Besides the thermal cut off there is a thermal fuse in your dryer which most likely has been blown. It's located on the air duct behind the back panel Check the thermal fuse for continuity and if it's open, replace it. The manufacturer recommends to replace the cycling thermostat too if the thermal fuse blown. It's located next to the thermal fuse. Also, I would recommend to check the vent, the vent hose and the blower inside the dryer for any clog. Any air flow restrictions could cause the dryer to overheat and blow the thermal fuse. - The part number for the thermal fuse AP3132867 - The part number for the cycling thermostat AP3131939 - Here are the break down diagrams for the Whirlpool dryer Model LER5636JQ0 Good luck. Gene.
