I have a Amana dryer that is giving me fits. When I turn the dryer on
To go thru a cycle the dial moves only to the first notch and stays there
While the dryer continues to run and never shuts off. The dryer will not shut off automatically. It will continue to run until it is shut automatically. What
Would cause this?

A model number may help others help you.

Try the unit in both timed dry and auto modes.

If it runs OK in timed dry then your problem may not be the timer as in many units the timer motor gets power through different circuit paths depending on the mode.
