So here is the problem...
When I turn the dryer on the igniter glows and the gas fires up as it should, after a couple of minutes of normal operation, the gas cuts off (maybe this is a normal cycling thing). After it cools down for a couple minutes the igniter glows again but the gas will not fire. After a few seconds, the igniter shuts down. Then after a minute or so the cycle starts all over again...igniter glows but no gas fire then the igniter shuts down. This cycle keeps repeating with no gas fire! Also, when I opened the dryer up to replace the flame sensor, I noticed on the control panel that the moisture sensor (small Integrated Circuit Board) (AP3220652) was fried. I considered this completely unrelated because the preset controls on the dial have not been working for a long time. We have been using the timer setting instead. I figured I would replace this sensor while I had it apart. I did. After replacing both the flame sensor and the burned out moisture sensor. I put it back together figuring I had it licked. As mentioned above the problem has not been resolved. I opened it back up only to find that the brand new moisture sensor was fried just like the original!!! Any advice would be greatly appreciated! So...I deduced by reading multiple posts on this forum that the root of my problem was probably the gas valve coils! After replacing them the issue with the lack of heat IS cured!! Thanks to all the previous posters' help in showing me the way to resolve this!
BUT...I will start a new thread to bring to the forefront my issue with the burned out moisture sensor.... |
