Hey everyone I am hoping to get some help. I have a Frigidaire FDE7970EW2 electric dryer. It is drying fine but the timer will not advance and the auto will not advance either. If I dont go down and manually stop the dryer it will just keep going for days or probably at least until it over heats. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Here is your parts breakdown
Model FDE7970EW2

If both timed dry and auto will not advance it is usually the timer motor.
Timer will have to be replaced

Easy to check, open up the console, turn the dryer on and measure the voltage to the timer motor. If it is 120 volts and the timer will not advance it is shot.
OR
Unplug the machine, undo one side of the timer motor and measure it for continuity. If open it needs replacing. This just checks the motor it does not tell you if a gear in the motor is stripped.

Be careful you are messing in an area that has 240 volts which is very dangerous.

The other possibility is just replace the timer.
