Model Number: wsm2780wawww Brand: GE Age: 5 - 10 years
in trying to repair a completely unrelated washer issue with my ge spacemaker unified laundry machine(s), i saw what appeared to be a large collection of lint where the air duct meets the front blower housing. upon further inspection, it appear that this was, in fact, a foam gasket between the 2 parts that was in less than stellar shape, allowing for lint to fall into the inside of the machine. i have 3 questions regarding this: 1. is this in fact a gasket? 2. if so, can it be replaced without having to purchase a new air duct or front blower housing (i cannot find any sort of gaskets on any site)? 3. if it cannot be purchased separately, is there an adequate substitution that i can make? thank you very much in advance for your help.

Looks like they have redesigned this area of your unit.
There is a good chance this was done because the foam seals were deteriorating. Any ways I may have found you an alternate Model GEQ8821LL0 Take a look in Section 3 Items 60 and 62. Am not sure if the above will be long enough but they seem to do the same job. Another possibility is to get some peel and stick door/windows weather stripping. Try to find the one that is a heavier type of foam material. A better solution would be to use duct sealing tape not the fiber type but the stuff heating contractors use which will take higher heat. It is hard to see if there is a lip on Part 1310 to tape to so this may not work.
