Dryer does not get hot. Just totally stopped getting even warm. Is there a way I can check to see if it is the heating element? Can I find out how to get to the element someplace on-line? Is there anything else it could be?
Thanks for any help. Short on $ so trying to figure it out myself.:)

The first thing you may want to check is the voltage at the wall outlet. While the motor needs only 120 VAC to run, the heating element needs 240 VAC.

Gene, I know nothing about electricity but I do know it is a 220 plug. Been working for about 4 years. Do you think something wrong with plug?

In order to diagnose the problem you have to have a simple multimeter and the basic knowledge on how to use it. If you do not feel comfortable to do it yourself then it's better to hire a pro.

If you do think you can handle it, let me know and I'll provide the instructions.

No problem handling it - please just tell me what to do. I checked the breakers in the breaker box. Everything there looks OK. Again, I just figure it is the heating element in the dryer that has gone out but I will start where ever you say to start. Thank you.

If the heating element continuity test shows it is open then it might be the culprit.

If the heating element in your dryer is an old style and it does not look like the element shown on the following picture then you have to order the two heating element wires as well.

- The heating element Part number: AP3094254
Part number: AP3094254

- The heating element wire (2 needed) Part number: AP3134638
Part number: AP3134638
