Model Number: dbl333eb1ww Brand: GE Age: 5 - 10 years
dear sir, this dryer is only 7 yrs old. when i try to turn the switch to the start position it only hums/buzzes and does not run. its getting power, the door switch is good obviously and i believe the belt is good because the drum does not turn freely and still has resistence. if it comes down to the motor, i dont have much money. should i just buy new dryer because i dont know how long the belt life has? thank so much for any advice.

The part that is most likely bad is the thermal limiter. The part # is WE04X10094. I want you to unplug the dryer. Then, get a putty knife and slide it under the top on the right side, about 3 inches from the end, and you will hit a clip. that will release the top on that side. Do the same on the other side, and then lift the top up, and rest it on the back wall. Now look inside the dryer, on back top right hand corner, there will be a small round part the size of a dine. That will be the thermal limiter. Take the 2 wires off, and slide the terminal ends together of the wires you took of, and then get some tape, and tape them up so they stay together, and no metal is showing. We don't want the metal terminal ends to hit metal. Once you have that done, plug the dryer in and see if it works. If so, I want you to unplug thye dryer, and we need to take the front off. There will be a screw on the inside of the front on the top right, abd the top left side of the inside of the front. They will be about 6 inches from the top. Remove them, and the wires to do the door switch, and then take the front off, and clean the blower housing on the bottom of the front. Then put it all back together, and order the thermal limiter. We just jumped it out for testing. You should not run the dryer with the limiter jumped out. I just wanted you to narrow down the problem. Tom ********************************************
