My Maytag performa stopped heating, the motor rotates but the clothes do not dry. I tested the heating element and showed infinity. Then I ordered a new one and replaced it along the high limit thermostat. I made sure I connected the cables in the right position but the drier still did not warmed up. I tested the new heating element and the needle points in the red area where it says replace. Did I get a faulty heating element? Or what else should I test?
Heater element #53-0920
I thank you for your help.

A model number may help others help you.

What is the meter you are using.
Have never heard of an ohms scale giving a replace indication.

You should be using resistance (ohms).
Unplug the machine.
Disconnect one side or the heating element.
Use the most sensitive ohms scale, usually 200 ohms.
Short the meter leads together so that you know if there is any meter offset at 0 ohms (dead short).
Measure across the heating element.
The heating element should measure 10 to 12 ohms.

My Maytag model is a pye2000ayw .Im sorry but I was reading the battery test. The heating element is fine based on my analog multimeter.
What else can I check? I am not sure if Iam right but I switched the tester to acv 250 and tried to test the red cables that connect to the heating element while on operation and read 0. Is this a clue that no power is gong to the heating element ? I thank you in advance for your help.

First I would check that the unit is getting the correct power.
The heating element requires the full 240 volts AC while the motor etc. just uses half the line (120 volts AC)

Try flipping the breaker off/on slowly a couple times, sometimes you can loose half the line without actually tripping the breaker.
If this does nothing, check the voltage at the plug
L1 to L2 should be 240 volts
L1 to Neutral and L2 to Neutral, both should be 120 volts.
If OK
Unplug the unit and check the wires at the terminal strip in the machine to make sure none are loose or burned out
If OK
Check the power at the terminal strip.

The voltage is 240 at the drier.

Here is the parts breakdown includes a wiring diagram.

OK next checks can all be done with the unit unplugged using resistance.

Check the door switch, the start switch and the main control thermostat.
I would also check the hi-limit just to be sure that you did not get a bad replacement.

I am assuming that the unit still starts and runs but does not heat up, is this correct.

The unit runs but no heat.
I checked the door switch and reads 1.5 resistance, on the front of the drier, below the cylinder there is another sensor Iam not sure its function but reads well.
I have the electric drawing for the drier but I do not how to find the start switch and thermostat control. I did check the controls located on the top of the drier and the one that says temperature reads infinite. Can this be related to the lack of heat?

Looks like I screwed up and did not include the link on my earlier post for the parts breakdown.

Door switch is OK because the motor runs and ity is in that circuit.
Also the thermal fuse and the push to start switch is OK.

It could be but I cannot say as you did not say where the meter leads were placed and where the timer was set to.

The next thing to check would be the heating element itself.
Disconnect one wire at the element and measure across the element. Should be around 12 ohms.

The cycling thermostat is on the blower assembly (Item 14 in Section 5).
Note: It has 4 wires so take note where they go. 2 are for the contacts and the other 2 are for it's internal heater. You want to check the contacts.

The safety thermostat (high limit) is Item 3 in Section 4.
