dried the first load of clothes. put it second load but dryer will not turn on. checked the breaker box (30amp), still on on position, did not kick off. turned the breaker off for the dryer and checked the three prong cord. it was very hot, pulled it out from the receptacle and one of the prongs looked burnt (black), the plastic/rubber around it kind of melted a little.
i wonder if this damaged other parts in the dryer. should i replace the receptacle and the cord. please advise

Yes I would replace both.
Better safe than sorry.
The overheating may have pitted the connections in the receptacle.

On the breaker, sometimes you can loose half the line without actually tripping the breaker.

replaced the receptacle and cord. checked the wiring going to the breaker, all looks good. turned dryer on...it works! thanks for the advice!
