The dryer vent is clear, the lint screen is clean, the heating element works, but the dryer still takes 2 cycles to dry. Is it possible that the element can degrade over time meaning that it still heats just not as well? I was going to replace it but dont want to waste $53.00. I have also read that maybe the thermostats can be bad.

Thanks for the help.

David,
If the dryer is heating there is a stoppage some where in the dryer or you vent pipe. You will want to check from the lint trap all the way the air duct to the outside of your house. Most often a stoppage will be in the fan area.

The dryer vents good meaning there is plenty of air flow. I can take it apart and look at the fan but there is plenty of air flow. could there be a blockage before the fan maybe causing it to have good air flow but not venting the dryer?

Thats weird somehow I pasted "generic top level domains" into the model number field. I noticed that when it happened but I thought I fixed it.
