18 month old eletric Maytag Dryer Model MED 5740 TQo / When you set the dial to any location, Auto Dry, Time Dry, etc., the dryer will come on and run / heat, however, the timer will not advance and will run continually until you manually rotate and turn off the Dial Timer. While the dryer is running, if you open the dryer door and after the motor becomes silent you can hear the timer still clicking away.

Please confirm what part(s) I need to replace.

Your help is greatly appreciated!

Regards,

Dan Pridgen

Here is your parts breakdown. It may help with the replacement.
Replacement parts for WHIRLPOOL MED5740TQ0 29"electric Dryer | AppliancePartsPros.com
The timer is Item 21 in Section 2.

Since it sounds like the timer is getting power but not advancing, it needs replacing.
