My dryer seems like it is always on high, even when I put it down on low. Just now when I was looking for the model number I saw that the top is slightly brown at the back and is very hot to the touch.

I checked the vent outside and it is flowing very well and the clothes dry in 30-45 minutes.

It just seems like the clothes are always very hot unless I put the temp control to air dry.

I would replace the thermostat that is located on the blower assembly, right next to the blower wheel. Part # 134048800 Tom ********************************************

Thanks for your quick reply, I was afraid it was going to be something much more expensive.

I'm curious about something though. When searching the model number there are two thermostats listed, the one you pointed out and this one 3204267. Do you know what this second thermostat is for? I don't want to order the wrong one.

Also, is there someplace I can find exploded views for this model?

The other thermostat is a high limit thermostat. The one I told you about is the operating thermostat. In case the operating thermostat goes, the . The high limit is there for a saftey. Which is the one you mentioned. If you want to see an exploded view, go to sears parts, and put your model # in. Don't buy parts from them, they will eat you for lunch. Thanks again kayak. I wasn't doubting you, just didn't know what the other stat was for, makes sense.

I couldn't figure out why the top of the dryer was getting so hot. Now I understand that the temp wasn't cycling on and off because of that stat, the second one just keeps it from burning my house down, right?

I ordered the part from here, will ship monday should have it shortly. I'll check sears parts for some diagrams.

The new t-stat did the trick. The top of the dryer would get too hot to touch, even when on the lowest heat setting. Now the top is much cooler, even on high.
