I an having trouble with my dryer It is a stacking unit . The dryer will start and run for a little bit and all of a sudden it will stop and it will say 6E and then we will have to go switch the cercit breaker off and then most of the time it will come back on, but lately it wouldn't come back on wright a way.
This is an old appliance and if there is some thing we can do to repair it and make it cost effective.

Marlene,

You most likely have a bad thermistor, or a loose connection between the thermistor and control board.

Part number: AP4037599
Part number: AP4037599

I'd start with the thermistor, I haven't run across too many loose connections.

But anything is possible...

to access the thermistor:

Turn off power or unplug the power cord.

Remove the two screws at the top of the lower panel, below the control display.

The thermistor is located on the blower housing on the left side and have purple wires attached to it.

You should also have the exhaust venting checked and cleaned.

Good Luck,
:) :) :) :)
