The part # is 31001746. Try *******, or Vance Baldwin. Tom ApplianceEducator.com

Another fine idea by Maytag.

Why should it be so hard to find a heating element for anything so new?

Default Discontinued Heating Element

I have the same dryer and my heating element went out 2.5 years after I bought it. I am still hopeful they will make it again or find an alternative. Have you had any luck finding one?

I am furious with Maytag/Whirlpool.

We have confirmed with Whirlpool/Maytag that part number 31001746 is discontinued and there is no replacement. We have also checked with a number of suppliers and they didn't have it in stock. It's going to be pretty difficult to find this part anywhere. Sorry.

Hope that restring kit works. I wonder who it's made by and whether it's a direct replacement.

Unfortunately that was all Maytag, now Whirlpool is left holding the bag on it.
