Sounds like the rear bearing is way past needing of lubrication, they make a complete bearing and cup kit to replace your old one, only one way to verify it, gotta take it apart, either way it will give you a chance put some high temp grease on the only rear support point for the entire drum.

Taking the unit apart is pretty simple, let me know if you need the crash course cliff notes version.

Ok , easiest way to explain, is in sections.
A, Turn power off to unit
B, Use putty knife to release top cabinent at seam and allow top to rise up like a car hood( seam is about waist height and you will see a large crack between the top and the front, get a light on it and you will see the clips, green normally
C, With top open look inside and straight down you will see a large screw holding the right and left side close to the cabinent.
D, remove entire front cabinet as you lift up off of small metal catch hooks

E, you have two options here, you really dont have to remove the belt to "check the rear bearing" so either lift from the rear and feel the large ball pull out of the cup, or reach behind the motor at the bottom and release the tension from the idler pulley to allot the belt to loosen up and you can slide it off and pull entire drum out as mentioned before.

Wish It was easier to describe, but you really just need to get your hands on it and you'll see it's not that bad.
