Why does my dryer smell like rotten eggs when it is running? I took it all apart, cleaned out every inch of the lint, replaced the vent line all the way from the back of the dryer to the outside? I am told it may be that I need to replace the belt? Does this sound right?

If it is a gas dryer you may have a gas leak.

Never heard of a belt causing a rotten egg smell but perhaps someone else has.

Rotten egg smell is often sulfur compounds.
Are you sure that it is not coming from your water.
If the clothes have a slight smell when you heat them up it would release the odor from the clothes.

Does it smell if you run the dryer for an hour or so without any clothes in it.

Here is a link to some info on sulfur small from water.
