I have a super large capacity GE dryer that is making ear piercing screeching noises mostly at the beginning and the end of the cycle. It is taking a bit longer to dry the clothes, but they still dry. What part should I replace?

Thanks in advance for any and all help. My dogs will really thank you; they are going nuts when I dry clothes! ~

Fawn Eyes,

I'm sure you're going to need a rear drum bearing kit.

Part number: AP2044401
Part number: AP2044401

This part is the most common noise issue on this style dryer.

Does the noise seem to be comming from the back of the machine ?

It's an easy repair, but it is an involved repair. but doable.

yes it does. I started to take off the back, but I removed 4 screws that had nothing to do with the back. I take it I have to remove the hex screws? I have never repaired anything like this before, but I am mechanically inclined and want to save $$$$. If I buy the repair manual will it walk me thru the process???

Fawn eyes,

You're at the wrong end...

You have to access that bearing from the front, that's why I said it was involved.

Yes the service manual will walk you through the teardown procedure and repair/ replacement of the part.

It'll come in handy in the future, if anything else goes wrong.
And we can always answer any question you'd have.

Good Luck,
