we have replaced thermal fuse twice. dryer worked ok for short while, then it got so hot you could not touch clothes, now dryer turns but no heat. I think the control knob doesn't count down on time and when you turn to set time, it does not make that clicking noise at all. do i need a control panel?

Thank you so much

Here is your wiring diagram

Try the unit in timed dry.
If the timer now advances the tier is probably OK.
In timed dry the timer motor get its power directly through Timer Switch 0.
In auto modes it gets it's power through the heating coil when the coil is shut off by a thermostat so if the heating coil is blown the timer will not advance.

Unplug the unit and one side of the heating coil. Measure it with a meter, should be approximately 10 ohms.

Also check the thermostats in the heater circuit. All should be 0 ohms.
If the Thermal Cut-off Non Resettable is blown get back to us as there are other things you should check.

The heating coil may have been grounded (touching the case), then it would run but without any control from the thermostats. Could be it has finally burned out.

Be sure to also clean/check your vent system.
