I reached into my dryer this morning and notice the rear gasket is falling out. Can I just push it back in? Do I really need it? Could I just pull it out?

Hi Alicia,

The purpose for this gasket (aka rear seal) is to cover a gap between the drum and the outer plate to improve the air flow and prevent damage to a clothes. So I do believe you really need it. Unfortunately if it did fall out then you have to replace it.

- The part number for the seal is AP3094267

Here are the break down diagrams for the Roper dryer Model RES7646KQ2

The rear seal is important, If you do replace it, the drum has to be removed and the new seal is GLUED in place with special high temp cement. Not a hard job, but it takes a little time.
