My washer and dryer are only 3 years old and having some problems. (They are stackable models). I was out of town and my wife had a repairman come by. He said that the washer was going bad and the dryer needed a new heating element and the bearings were going bad and recommended buying new ones. My impression is that he seemed to not want to deal with large stackables in a small closet .

Anyways, we didn't really get anything done.

As far as the dryer goes, it had started to squeek recently. How hard is it to make the bearing and heating element repairs? And where can I get some instructions?

I replaced my heating coil and rear bearing about 6 months ago. It honestly isn't hard. Its about a 3/10 in your DoItYourself scale. Make sure you have a helping hand, It doesn't hurt.

Thanks for the response. I found the parts guide and can find the parts to order. Just one last question that I can't seem to figure out (prior to taking the stackable dryer down). This is kinda stupid but for installing, is it all done through a back panel or is there a front panel, or something else.

If you need to replace the rear bearing and heating coil you are going to have to remove the drum. You are more then likely going to have to remove the front door/control panel/ front panel and then remove the drum. Once you remove the drum you will see if your rear bearing attact to it. The heating element/coil will be screwed into the back of your dryer but 4 screws. Please be sure to remove all power prior to disabling your dryer

If you need help on how to remove or get the basic concept of doing so. I suggest you go to youtube and watch some videos. Type "rear bearing dryer" and "dryer Heating Element"

The youtube video made the job incredibly easy. Thanks a million. My 19 year old son helped me and said that it was a simple fix. It seems like the biggest problem is finding how to take it apart.

Anyways...onwards to the leaky washer.
