Model Number: GEQ8858HQ0 Brand: Whirlpool Age: More than 10 years
The timer usually has to be turned off in a very particular manner or it keeps "ticking" when it reaches 'off'. The clothes will dry, the Timed Dry works best, the Accu-Dry is not reliable. To start the timer, it also has to be turned in a particular direction for it to start -the dial seems to spin in some areas as if it is not engaging. Do I need to purchase a new timer? Thanks.

This machine has a timer and a circuit board, and given the age of the machine and the cost of the parts I think you should consider a new machine.
A basic dryer will do a great job for you, not cost much more than parts for your old machine and have a warranty and all those good things.

I guess it depends on what kind of shape the rest of the dryer is in and how much you want to spend on a repair. Ultimately its up to you whether to repair or replace. |
