6 Year old gas dryer suddenly not heating up at all.

4 months ago dryer slowly started losing heat. Reached the point where it would heat for a few minutes than go cold. Drum would continue tumbling. I called in a pro and he replaced the coil. Problem solved....until now.

I first assumed that it was the coil again so I was going to go in and replace it myself (and save $200 this time). Although I realized that now the dryer is not heating at all. Not even for a few minutes. I checked to see if it was attempting to light/glow at all, but I see nothing.

After reading the dryer blog on this site, I assume it was the Ignitor or the Flame Sensor. I tested resistance of the Ignitor and it came in around 75 ohms. I tested continuity of the Flasme Sensor and it has continuity.

Any suggestions on what it can be or what I can try next? I really don't want to spend any more $$ on a service tech.

Thanks.

I never check resistance on an igniter, I just check that is has 120 volts to it. If it has 120 volts and isn't glowing then its bad.

What I would check is the thermal fuse. Part number: AP3176214

Part number: AP3176214

Its located in the back on the side of the long silver tube. If it is open that would do it, also check your vent for restrictions or sharp bends.

Apparently I'm not charging enough. If I replaced the coils on your dryer it would have cost about half as much.

Thanks man.

I actually went and checked the fuse and thermostat early today and it was the fuse. It was open. I picked up a new one at the local store and now I'm back in business. You were rigt! Thanks!
