Did you check, via continuity as to which or if both were actually not working?

well the one on the bottom does not go to the sensor because I tried it and it blew the circut. does it go the the empty prong on the heat element? I did try the continuity but I could be doing that wrong. The orange clipped one should go where?

the orange wire goes to the thermal cutoff's top prong? I dont understand why the directions show the prongs empty.
