I just purchased a replacement gas valve assembly (P/N AP4047140 (37001002). The interface to the gas line was a little different and I had to take the gas fitting off of the new unit and replce it with the one from the old unit to couple to the gas line. Other than that, the two assemblies appear similar. After installing the new gas valve, the burner flame was a full orange, so I attempted to adjust the air vent to get a blue flame. There was no impact to the burner flame by either fully closing or fully opening the air vent. This suggests to me that the gas valve setting is incorrect and the part is either disfunctional or an incoorect part number. Can you please revert with a suggested course of action. As I recall when ordering the part, I got one part number online and the customer service person gave me a different part number...maybe I was sold the incorrect part number.
Thank you, CB

Did you advise the parts person of the production number (PAL*****) of the unit?
There are 3 valves listed for the gas valve(depending on the production number)

Are you using Natural gas or LP gas ? New gas valves come preset for Nat gas from the factory and will need to be converted to LP using the previous oriface and other components from the original valve(or a new conversion kit).

Did you check or clean the burner tube before reinstalling the part ? possible debris in burner tube(where the flame comes out) would cause an improper burn charateristic.

Did you use pipe dope or teflon tape when you switched the fitting? You may have restricted the gas flow into the valve if the tape or seal compound enterred the gas valve from the fitting.

Please contact us after you've done these checks and include to production number for more efficient assistance.
