Model Number: DWXR473GT5WW Brand: GE Age: 5 - 10 years
Greetings All,
My gas dryer became noticeably louder recently, but it was still drying clothes with no problem. I would describe the noise as a mild growl, and believe the frequency coincides with the motor rpm (you can here it wind down when you turn off the power). I thought something might be stuck in the blower, so I tore the thing open to check it out. Slides were completely worn through and the pulley had a step in the hub and was rubbing the belt on one side - aha! that must be it. Ordered parts from this site. Installed new slides, pulley, belt, and rear axle bushing. Checked blower motor, it spins freely by hand with no noises. Vacuumed, blew out all lint inside chassis. Fired it back up, still makes the same noise but works fine as before. Do I have a bad motor bearing or some other motor issue? Thanks for any help Ads By Google Related Models |
