My dryer is 8 years old. It was running trouble free until lightning struck my house directly; right above the laundry room. It stopped working completely except for the light inside the dryer.

I had to replace the dryer cord, terminal block, one of the thermal fuses, and the door switch. I got it in working condition. It tumble and heats properly but the timer won't advance. I just replaced it with a new one and I still have the same problem. I've tried auto-dry and timed-dry with the old and new timer but neither will advance from any position. I have checked all of the wiring leading to the timer. My dryer has an intellidry feature with: dry, damp, wet lights. It's lid and stuck on damp. With wet clothes or no clothes it still says damp.

The heating element works as it should; it cycles on and off. I've checked the high limit and the cycling thermostat for continuity and they check out okay. I've already cleaned out the vents as well. No signs of a blown capacitor either. Help plz D=

Most likely the problem is a bad moister control board. If you need the correct part number, post the serial number of the dryer.

Looks like you have to replace both the dryness display assembly and the chime/buzzer. Also check the wires from the sensor bar.

Gene, I have the same problem with the timer not advancing on my Maytag Model MDE7057AYW electric dryer. The dryer seems to operate as it should and dries the load of clothes but the timer doesn't advance at all to shut it off. I assumed it was a faulty timer motor so I installed a new timer which did not solve the problem. The timer will not advance even in the Timer/Air Fluff cycle. Can a bad moisture control board cause this problem even in the Timed cycle with Air Fluff?

As best I can tell it is getting a little over 50 volts while the dryer is running.

If there are no any broken wires, very likely the problem is a bad dryness electronic control.
