My Maytag dryer making a squeaking noise and then started making a thumping noise. I replaced both of the rollers, and the posts that they go on since these were quite worn.

The squeaking noise is gone, but is still making a thumping noise a couple times a second.

I noticed a lot of black "dust" in the dryer when i took it apart, which i assume is from the belt, though it doesn't seem worn or cracked at all. Is this normal?

I am not sure, but it seems the thumping noise coincides with another part of the dryer spinning, no idea what its called... maybe a tension-er? it puts tension on the belt and spins. Seems to spin once per thump... as do my new rollers. Could this be the culprit? Thanks for your help.

Sounds like your Dryer slide guides are wearing down and causeing a metal to metal scraping causing the squeal they are located inside the front frame and the drum glides on them

You could have a bad section in the belt, or a worn idler pulley.
