Hello. Thanks so much for allowing me to use this excellent appliance forum! I have a Maytag LDG9804AAE Gas Dryer that has been ridiculously noisy. It makes a terrible clunking sound and the dryer doesn't even stay in one place.
I have read and followed links regarding my problem from various useful sources on this site. As a result, I have taken my dryer apart, and narrowed down the cause of the problem. I would just like confirmation that I'm on the right track, and a little help answering my questions so I can buy the correct part. have followed the directions and links found in various useful posts on this website. I have also watched numerous youtube videos and the like. This stuff is invaluable to a DIY repair person like myself.
I think I need either new drum rollers, a new belt, a new belt pully, or a combination thereof. The belt pulley has grooves in it with uneven wear. The drum pulley on the left side (as you look at the dryer) does not spin freely for very long. I think this is the major issue. The right pulley spins fairly freely, but I've read it's better to replace both at the same time. There seems to be uneven wear on the outside of the drum itself, where the belt goes. Would I need a new belt as well?
I've read also that the blower assembly could cause noise. Mine makes a bit of noise, but I would think this is less of an issue. Perhaps I could just lubricate it or tighten it.
Additionally, I would like to lubricate the motor and any other parts needing lubrication. Is there a link or photo or could someone describe where to oil, how and with what.
I have photos that might make it easier to diagnose. I'd be happy to upload them if I could figure out how.
Thanks so much in advance for your time and attention to this issue. --JDW
