Model Number: MDE2500AYW Brand: Maytag Age: 5 - 10 years
My Maytag dryer was making screeching sounds. After removing the front assembly I found the felt drum seal was torn at the top where the 2 ends come together. I also found one of the tabs used to hold the seal in place had broken off and may have been causing the drum noise. I reassembled the dryer, forcing the seal in place, and it is now running quietly.
But I may still need to replace the seal - so I have two questions: First, can I simply replace the felt seal using the remaining tabs or do I need to replace the front bulk head as well? If I replace the seal, do I bend the tabs slightly to get the seal under them and then bend them back? I don't want to fatigue the metal tabs. Thanks, Ken Ads By Google Related Models |
