gas dryer only heats up for short periods

Model Number: fdg648ghso Brand: Gibson Age: 5 - 10 years

the burner will ignite for a couple of minutes get the dryer hot and go out and come back on, but rarely long enough to dry anything, it takes 4 to5 cycles to dry things. any help would be greatly appreciated.thank you
