My Maytag MDB8600AWS dishwasher just started making a loud grinding noise after it initially fills with water. I called a local repair shop and they say it is the pump motor (which will cost me a mere $420 to repair - almost the cost of the machine). Does this sound correct? (The repair guy made this determination by listening to the noise and removing the toekick strip in the front; that's it, he did nothing else.) Is this something that I could do myself (I'm rather handy)? If so, how do you access this part; from underneath the machine, or inside? I'm assuming if it's from underneath I would need to pull the machine out since there isn't much room for access otherwise. If this is the correct part, what is the part number? Help.
