Model Number: MDBH955AWQ Brand: Maytag Age: 1 - 5 years
I purchased a control board for this dishwasher thinking that would solve the problem I am having. Yes the problem is still there, seems from reading other forums that the control panel is the problem. The lights don't turn on any more when the cycle is finished and the rinse light comes up and is almost impossible to use any other button. Maytag says the warranty is over (I think I have had the dishwasher for 2 years tops). What is the part number for the control panel? Thanks for the help.

This dishwasher has to be possessed
Why is this happening? I am wondering now, called APP and they are going to send me a new control panel. What if that is not the problem, how do I troubleshoot this washer? Any hints??? Thanks, Francisco |

Hi Francisco,
Why is this happening - I do not know. Install a new control panel and lets go from there. Gene.

Francisco,
I have the exact same model dishwasher with the exact same problem. It's 2 yrs old, bought it at home depot, never liked the cheaply made control panel. It would always jump back to "rinse" no matter which wash cycle you pushed. I opened her up after reading your message and I found the problem, which could be what happened to you. Where that ribbon of wire from your control panel plugs into the board is the problem; it works it's way loose and does funny things. AFter turning off power, open the black control box by backing out the center screw. The white piece of plastic on the board where the ribbon plugs into is actually a clamp. Grasp the white plastic on both sides and gently push towards the center of the board. Now slide in that ribbon as far as it will go and while keeping a little pressure on it, pull on that white piece of plastic. Now you can see that white piece of plastic is actually 2 pieces and just locked your ribbon into the socket. Try it- my dishwasher works like new now and I'm guessing that's where your problem lies too. -RD |

RD,
In my case the ribbon is not the problem, there has to be a chip in the control panel that seems to burn up or something. I changed the new control panel and put the old one (at least that one turns on) and will wait for the replacement to arrive. Thanks, Francisco |

Irvine,
The touch pad has been on back order for over 2 months now, appliance parts pro tell me that the factory has not yet made it. The old touch pad (the one I replaced), seems to be able to work but it has problems, will not start the load, or it will start and then stop and it needs to be set several times before it works and finishes a cycle. I am told Maytag was bought by Whirlpool so I am afraid they might just decide to dump the model and not produce any more spare parts. Hope their new moto is not "To hell with our customers". If the part does not arrive I have pledged never to buy a whirlpool in the future. To bad, this is how american made is going down the tubes... |

My Maytag QuietSeries 300's touch pad also stoped working. At first the start button would not respond unless you really messed with it about a minute. Then it quit working all together. I tried the recomendation above that described the circuit board but it did not help.
Here is a temp fix that worked for me and may work for you. PLEASE BE AWARE, I AM NOT AN EXPERT AND ALTHOUGHT THIS DID NOT SHOCK ME, I CANNOT GUARUNTEE IT WONT SHOCK YOU. I pealed back the touch pad on the front of the dishwasher so that the circuits could be seen. It is simply switches and circuit back to the main board inside that is glued to the outside of the washer and is connected on the right through the front panel to the circuit board. After pealing the touch pad off the washer I touched the other side of the start button (the side that is usually facing the washer and glued to the front) and it works like a charm. So obviously something is wrong with the front of the pad but the connection can still be made on the back of the pad. As far as I know there is no danger of getting shocked. I tried it several times with power on and there is no shock. It seems to be sealed in plastic. The only issue with this is that you either have to keep pealing this off everytime you want to start your dishwasher, or you have to just let it hang there (the wife didnt like that option). I ended up just barely letting it stick back on the washer and peal it off when it needs to be started. Temporary fix; may buy you some time until you can get a part in or get a new washer. enjoy |
