Unhappy GE dishwasher leaking at bottom right front door
Model Number: GSD820P-35   Brand: GE   Age: More than 10 years

Appliance Parts from AppliancePartPros.com
This is my mother-in-law's machine, which I installed many years (15+) ago. Runs for a minute or 2 after filling up and water leaks heavily from right front corner of door.

This is with the machine empty and NO soap in it - so, it's not suds. I examined the gasket and while it looks like a 15 year old piece of flexible plastic, there were no splits or cracks visible in the area of the leak.

I haven't checked the float for grease build up - just read that link. I'm only there once a month or so, so I could use all the tips I can get before our next visit.

I did not take apart the door either.
Any advice on what tools I should pack with me for my next diagnostic trip?

Thanks in advance,
Larry

Have you opened the door to make sure there are no suds and or bubbles? A suds or bubbles can be created because of leaking rinse aid container or a dishwashing soap came inside the dishwasher from a dishes rinsed prior to load into the dishwasher.

The gasket should be pretty flexible, without any white staff on it.

An excessive amount of water can cause such water leak. The normal water level for this model supposed to be between 3/8" to 1" above the hub (the hub is the raised portion the wash arm turns on).

Gene.

Gene,
Thanks for the reply. Next time I'm there, I will examine the hub to be sure it is clear of grease and that the float is free to move. We have been testing it empty - no dishes have run in it for over 3 months, altho there may be soap built up on the inner surfaces? Also, rinse aid has never been used in this machine. I'll take off the gasket too and examine it more closely - had sticker shock at the cost of a new one (~$45)....!
Thanks again,
Larry
