The D/W was very noisy the last time it ran but finished the cycle. Several times during the cycle I inspected the interior and drain holes for the source of the noise but found nothing. The unit fills, opens the detergent door and drains fine but does not wash. Also, a very faint "hot electrical" odor seems to come from the sides of the unit where it meets the cabinet opening.

I think the wash motor is toast. Your diagnostic help would be appreciated. Is this problem worth fixing? The D/W has worked flawlessly and nearly whisper quiet for years.
Thank you,

First you have to determine if the motor/impeller is free and not jammed with something.

Thank you Denman. The new parts fit perfectly and old faithful is running again. I've repaired plenty of other appliances but this was my first dishwasher. Very easy and well worth the money. Turned out to be the wash motor as suspected.
Thanks again,
Bill
