Model Number: ghd6711l15ss Brand: GE Age: 1 - 5 years
Another appliance to fix... thank god for these forums. first time actually posting.
So a GE Quiet power 3 (ghd6711l15ss) not so quiet. I don't really know how the cycles on this thing is suppose to work as im not the main dishwasher in the house and am not home very often. But I hear about it when it is broken. fair enough. she has been using the dishwasher like this for sometime. it is noisy and the soap doesnt all get used, some is left in the soap dispenser. I turned it on and this is waht happened. everything seemed normal for the first 4-5 min lots of steam and hot inside, some water. then it started to really vibrate and not so much as roar. like someone on and off the gass pedal vrooom..vrooooom..vrooooom i opened the door the noise obviously stops and no comotion inside, no water, no steam, no nothing!... took of the kickplate and yep its loud underthere... where do i go from here? replace motor? pump? could it be something easy(er). am i wasting my time to replace these parts. just buy another dishwasher? anyhelp would be great. Here are your parts
Replacement parts for General Electric GHD6711L15SS Dishwasher | AppliancePartsPros.com I turned it on and this is waht happened. everything seemed normal for the first 4-5 min lots of steam and hot inside, some water. How much water? Most units fill to just under the heating element. If theses unit do not get enough water they will cavitate and growl. The most common cause is a partially plugged filter screen on the input side of the water valve. If low on water, remove the valve from the unit and check/clean the screen. Do not permanently remove the screen as it is there to keep crud out of the valve which could hold it open and cause a flood. i opened the door the noise obviously stops and no comotion inside, no water, no steam, no nothing! Hard to tell if this means anything as it depends where in the cycle you opened the door. took of the kickplate and yep its loud underthere... where do i go from here? Remove the sump cover, inside center of the tub Item 506 in Section 2. Check for debris in the sump. Be careful as there is often broken glass in the sump. Check that there is nothing wrapped around the chopper. Check that the motor rotaes easily by hand. replace motor? pump? could it be something easy(er). am i wasting my time to replace these parts. just buy another dishwasher? I would not replace any parts unless you can confirm that they are probably causing your problem.
