After running cycle, the dishwasher soap is out of dispenser and remaining on door. Does not seem to be disolving during wash cycle. Any help would be appreciated. The unit is just over two years old.

I have GE Profile PDW9200 dishwasher with "smart dispense" feature. I am going to guess that you have the same feature.

The way soap is dispensed is through a small pump impeller that rotates and squeezes the rubber hose connected to the soap tank. If you have hard water and have possibly mixed different detergent types in the past (chlorine and enzyme based detergents will react and clump up), this pump no longer works as it cannot squeeze the hose completely.

Since the pumped is a self enclosed unit, the I think the best way is for you to replace the entire pump assembly. I don't think it is that that difficult to do as long as you prepare with information and materials before starting the project.

I am in a process of creating a how-to article for my particular dishwasher here (AllThumbsDIY.com - DIY Plumbing) which will be completed in about a day or two (today is Sunday, Feb 21 2010). Maybe that will help?

Thank you for your post. I don't think my dishwasher has a pump. I looked at the soap dish dispenser and did not see any place for a pump line. Apparently when the dishwasher goes through it's cycle, the dispenser opens up and the detergent runs down the front of the door.
